Penes wider distally, with ventral spines inserted laterally ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). Posterolateral projections of styliger plate relatively very short and pointed distally ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). Dorsal accessory structure single ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). Caudal filaments whitish translucent.
Nymph. Unknown.
Etymology. The name is an allusion to a famous musical style of Pernambuco State.
Diagnosis. Traverhyphes (Traverhyphes) frevo sp. nov. can be distinguished from the other species of the genus by the following combination of characteristics: 1) abdomen translucent shaded with grayish, segment I–X whitish; 2) penes wider distally ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ); 3) penile spines curved, inserted laterally; 4) posterolateral projections of styliger very short and pointed distally, in lateral view ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ); 5) vein IMP and MP2 of forewings joined by crossveins ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ).
Material. Holotype. Brazil, Pernambuco State, Bonito (S08°31'58.59", W035°43'26.32") male imago, 29.i.2010, Lima, LRC col. ( PPGBT). Paratypes. Same data as holotype, 4 male imago (light trap), Lima LRC, Nicacio G colls. ( PPGBT); same data except 1 male imago ( UFPE).
Comments. This species is similar to Traverhyphes (Traverhyphes) pirai Molineri, 2001 due the insertion of penile spines and by the penes wider distally. However, it can be distinguished from this species by the size of the posterolateral projections of styliger plate, which is very short in the new species, and because it are pointed distally.
