Omalaspis villemantae Pujade-Villar & Ros-Farré n. sp.

( Figs 7b View FIGURE 7 & 8b View FIGURE 8 )

Type material. ( 1 ♀). HOLOTYPE female ( UB), 16-VI-1983, Valflaunès, Montpellier, ( FRANCE), Maldès col, G. Delvare leg.

Diagnosis. Omalaspis villemantae n. sp. is similar to O. norica , both having longitudinal carinae on each side of interfoveal line and mesopleuron chagrinate, but in O. norica , the scutellar disc is almost as wide posteriorly as anteriorly, and the scutellar foveae have scarce and weak longitudinal carinae, while in O. villemantae , the scutellar disc is narrower posteriorly than anteriorly, and scutellar foveae have abundant and strong longitudinal carinae.

Description. Length. Female 3.6 mm; male unknown.

Coloration. Head and metasoma black. Mesosoma light brown. Scape and pedicel dark brown, remaining antennomeres brown. Coxa and trochanter dark brown, remaining leg segments light brown. Wing membrane hyaline, veins of wing brown.

Head. Frons coriaceous, slightly rugose. Frontal carinae nearly effaced. Lateral frontal carinae conspicuous, space between them and compound eyes coriaceous and with transverse carinae. Supratorular impression conspicuous. Ocelli slightly prominent. Vertex in dorsal view coriaceous, rugose. Vertex posterior coriaceous. Occiput coriaceous. Genae sharply margined and expanded, with sinuate transverse carinae, coriaceous.

Antenna. Filiform. Antennal formula: 4(3): 2(3): 7(2): 5(2): 5(2): 5(2): 5(2): 5(2): 4.5(2): 4(2): 4(2): 4(2): 9(2).

Mesosoma. Lateral surface of pronotum coriaceous, with very fine transverse carinae dorsally, basally with conspicuous transverse carinae, central area coriaceous. Mesoscutum coriaceous. Parascutal sulcus shiny. Median ridge complete, weak, antero-admedian lines fine, slightly confluent, reaching 1/2 mesoscutum length. Median mesoscutal furrow scarcely coriaceous, with transverse carinae. Notauli, wide posteriorly, narrow anteriorly, coriaceous, with transverse carinae. Mesosoma, in lateral view, slightly curved. Mesopleuron slightly alutaceous. Scutellum 0.65 times scutum length. Interfoveal line reaching posterior margin of scutellum, although last 1/3 very weak. Scutellar foveae with noticeable oblique carinae. Scutellar disc coriaceous to granulate, with some weak longitudinal carinae and also with short transverse carinae near interfoveal line. Lateral scutellar margin confluent, posterior margin of scutellum straight, narrow.

Wing. Radial cell 2.0 times longer than wide. R2 straight, curved near margin of wing.

Distribution. Palaearctic, France.

Etymology. This new species is dedicated to our French friend and colleague Claire Villemant (MNHN-Paris).
