Keilbachia adunca View in CoL sp. n.
Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 A–H.
Material studied. Holotype male. BRUNEI, Ulu Temburong, hut Malaise trap up to 9.3.1982, M. C. Day (in BMNH). Other material. 1 male, MALAYSIA, Borneo, Sabah, Sipitang, Mendolong, 10.3.1989, S. Adebratt (in NRMS).
Male. Colour. Almost unicolorous brown, maxillary palpus and legs paler brown than the other parts, abdomen slightly paler than thorax, wing hyaline brownish, haltere pale brown. Head. Eye bridge 4 facets wide. Face (prefrons) with 4–10 setae, which are widely spread. Clypeus with 1 seta. Maxillary palpus, Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 A–B: with 3 palpomeres. Palpomere 1 with 2–3 setae, the hyaline sensilla widely scattered on the dorsal surface, no sensory pit. Palpomere 2 with 5–6 setae. Palpomere 3 with 3–5 setae. Antennal flagellum beyond flagellomere 1 lost in the holotype, flagellomere 4 of the paratype, Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 C. Thorax. Anterior pronotum with 2–3 setae. Episternum 1 with 2–3 setae. Wing similar to Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A but the anal lobe more pronounced. Length 1.1 mm. Width/length 0.50. R1/R 0.55–0.60. c/ w 0.65 –0.80. r-m and bM of equal length, but exact measures were not made because the basal parts of stM and bM are difficult to see, both r-m and bM non-setose. Legs. Apex of fore tibia, Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 D. Length of fore basitarsomere/length of fore tibia 0.45–0.50. Length of fore tibia/ length of fore femur 1.20. Length of hind tibia/length of scutum+scutellum 1.55–1.70. Abdomen. Sternite 8 with 7–8 setae in a transverse row on posterior part. Hypopygium Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 E–H: Gonostylus with the curved megaseta rather short, about as long as its basal body, without additional megasetae or an apical tooth. Tegmen with strong lateral shoulders, but there is a remarkable difference in the details between the two specimens ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 E, G).
Female unknown.
Discussion. The two specimens differ distinctly in details of the tegmen. In the holotype, the posterior part beyond the lateral shoulders is shorter than in the other specimen, and there are no sclerotized tooth-like lateral projections on the lateral shoulders as in the other specimen. It is not impossible that these specimens represent two species.
Keilbachia adunca is similar to K. clinata and K. orthonema . For further discussion, see under these two species.
