Material studied. Lectotype male (here designated): INDONESIA, Sumatra, Fort de Kock (Bukittinggi), 1925, E. Jacobson (B.M. 1930-538; BMNH # 250135) (in BMNH). Paralectotype male: same data as the lectotype. The specimen lacks the hypopygium.
Discussion. Only the type material of Keilbachia curvispina is known. It consists of two specimens, described from one locality in Sumatra. One of the specimens, with its hypopygium mounted on a piece of celluloid (probably by Edwards himself), is probably that illustrated in the original description (Edwards 1931) and is re-illustrated here by us. The rest of the specimen is missing. On the other hand, the other male specimen is mounted on a pin but lacks the hypopygium. Rather than dissecting this specimen, we have left it untouched and base the identity of the species only on the existing hypopygium of the other specimen; to fix the name to this specimen, we hereby designate it as the lectotype. The species is very small, with the wing length less than 1 mm. K. curvispina resembles K. mira Vilkamaa, Komarova & Hippa and K. tenuicula Vilkamaa, Komarova & Hippa. All these species are characterized by a very long basal body of the curved gonostylar megaseta. K. curvispina differs from both by having the basal body nearly as long as the megaseta instead of being less than half of its length. Furthermore, it has one slender megaseta subapically on the gonostylus instead of two short conical ones, one apical, the other subapical. See also under K. mirabilis below.
