Spiroloculina View in CoL sp. 1 ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 :3–4)
Description. Test oval in outline with squared-off, concave peripheries. Chambers are arranged with massiline coiling with pronounced carinate ornament. Test wall between carina are concave with roughened texture due to presence of very fine striae. Both oral and aboral ends produced. Aperture terminal, as wide as final chamber, with a moderate peristomal lip and simple nub-like tooth.
Remarks. The highly curved outline of this taxon is similar to Spiroloculina parvula Chapman 1902 . However, the sutures are insufficiently depressed and unlike S. parvula and other collected spiroloculine taxa, the exterior chambers of this taxon are strongly inflated, almost completely obscuring earlier chambers ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 :3). Although this suite of features appears to be unique, this species was not recovered in sufficient numbers to erect a new species.
Distribution within study area. Spiroloculina sp. 1 was not recovered in high abundance with no more than two specimens per site. This taxon was most abundant at site 2 in Wistari Lagoon and was found in all reefs but Sykes Reef.
