Anthogorgia racemosa Thomson & Simpson, 1909 View in CoL
Anthogorgia racemosa Thomson & Simpson, 1909: 195–196 View in CoL , pl. 2, fig. 2 & 3, pl. 8, fig 14 (Andamans).
Opinion: This species does occur in the region.
Justification:
These Indian records seem to be either invalid or unconfirmable: Fernando, 2011: 32–33, pl. 11, fig. 1–1c (Nagapatinam); Fernando et al. 2017: pl. 24, fig. 1–1c (Nagapatinam).
Literature analysis: This species, which was originally described from the Andamans, remains difficult to identify because of Thomson & Simpson’s minimal description and sclerites illustrations. It does, however, have robust, heavily warted spindles that clearly do not match the “long and slender spindles with sparsely placed minute tubercles” of the specimen described in the identical accounts by Fernando (2011) and Fernando et al. (2017). Rao & Devi (2003) just listed the species.
