Lectotype (designated here):— CHILE. Valle de las Nieblas, Cordillera de Chillán , January 1877, Philippi s.n. ( SGO000003655 !; isolectotype SGO000003656 !).
Protologue:—“In valle de las Nieblas dicto haud procul a thermis chillanensibus januario 1877 legimus”.
= Azorella lycopodioides Gaudichaud (1825: 105) View in CoL .
Notes:—Philippi cited one collection from “valle de las Nieblas” in the protologue of Azorella laevigata View in CoL . We have found two specimens at SGO that perfectly agree with the protologue and that could have been used by the author for the description of the new species. We designate as the lectotype of Azorella laevigata SGO View in CoL 000003655; this specimen is somewhat best preserved.
