Megachelonus: De Saeger, 1948: 88 (as syn of Chelonus Panzer View in CoL ).

Diagnosis. Head transverse ( Figs 6G View FIGURE 6 , 8B View FIGURE 8 , 10B View FIGURE 10 , 12E View FIGURE 12 ); antennomeres of apical half of antenna distinctly flattened and broadened; face striate to reticulate rugose, clypeus semi-elliptical ( Figs 6F View FIGURE 6 , 8A View FIGURE 8 , 10A View FIGURE 10 , 12D View FIGURE 12 ); eyes long elliptical or ovoid in lateral view ( Figs 6I View FIGURE 6 , 8G View FIGURE 8 , 10G View FIGURE 10 , 12F View FIGURE 12 ); mesosoma coarsely reticulate-rugose, transverse suture distinct; scutellum distinctly protruding above level of mesoscutum, with same sculpture as mesosoma; propodeum with a transverse carina and distinct tooth-like tubercles( Figs 6C, 6J View FIGURE 6 , 8F View FIGURE 8 , 10F View FIGURE 10 , 12C View FIGURE 12 ); metasomal carapace with two ventroapical tooth-like protuberances ( Figs 6E View FIGURE 6 , 8C View FIGURE 8 , 10C View FIGURE 10 , 12H View FIGURE 12 ).
