Cryptogonus himalayensis Kapur, 1948: 108 .— Poorani 2002: 344; Kovář 2007: 575; Ren et al. 2009: 114, 115; Dorji et al. 2019: 502.
Diagnosis. Length: 2.25–2.50 mm; width: 1.80–2.15 mm. Form elongate oval, moderately convex; dorsum densely pubescent. Head and pronotum yellow, pronotum anteriorly yellowish-orange with a transverse, subtrapezoidal black macula on posterior margin not reaching lateral corners, elytra black except apical third yellow, elytral apex sometimes with a small black sutural spot ( Fig. 24a–c View FIGURE 24 ). Genitalia not studied.
Type material examined. Holotype male, “ Type (red bordered circular label)/ Birmah, Ruby Mines / Doherty / Fry Coll. 1905-100/ Cryptogonus himalayensis sp.n., TYPE, A.P. Kapur, 1947 ( BMNH); paratype with same data, elytra missing ( BMNH: 1); paratype, “ Sikkim, Singhik , 3500 ft, 23.iv.1924, Major R.W.G. Hingston /Everest Exp. Brit. Mus. 1924-386/ Cryptogonus himalayensis sp. n. A.P. Kapur, 1947” ( BMNH: 1).
Distribution. India (Sikkim); Bhutan; China.
