Aspidimerus spencii Mulsant, 1850: 944 .— Crotch 1874: 202; Weise 1885: 232; Korschefsky 1931: 173; Kapur 1948: 83; Booth & Pope 1989: 364; Poorani 2002: 343; Huo et al. 2013: 72.
Diagnosis. Length: 4.20–5.90 mm; width: 3.70–4.50 mm. Form oblong oval, moderately convex; dorsum densely pubescent. Head and pronotum reddish brown, pronotum with a median black patch on posterior margin above scutellar shield; scutellar shield reddish brown; ground colour of elytra reddish, each elytron with three black spots, first one on shoulder, second spot much broader and transverse, located about middle, third one transverse and apical, elytral suture with a broad black band between scutellar shield and middle ( Fig. 8b–d View FIGURE 8 ). Abdominal postcoxal line ( Fig. 8e View FIGURE 8 ) incomplete. Spermatheca ( Fig. 8f View FIGURE 8 ) as illustrated. Male genitalia not studied.
Material examined. Mungphu / Atkinson Coll. 92.3 / Aspidimerus spencii Muls. A.P. Kapur 1947 , 2 ex. ( BMNH); Kurseong Inde, Verschraeghen 1904, 1 female ( BMNH) .
Distribution. India: Northeastern region (Assam; Meghalaya (Khasi Hills)); Myanmar.
Notes. The male genitalia of this species could not be studied due to the paucity of study material. See Kapur (1948) for detailed description and illustrations.
