Polynema (Doriclytus) pallidiventre ( Ogloblin, 1960)

( Figs 6–10 View FIGURES 6 – 10 )

Barypolynema (Notopolynema) pallidiventre Ogloblin 1960: 74 (figure of the female antenna), 75 (figures of the mesosoma and the base of forewing), 77–79. Type locality: Loreto, Misiones, Argentina.

Barypolynema (Notopolynema) pallidiventre Ogloblin : De Santis 1967: 112 (catalog).

Polynema pallidiventris (Ogloblin) : Yoshimoto 1990: 83 (list, new combination).

Barypolynema pallidiventre Ogloblin : Loiácono et al. 2005: 8 (type information).

Polynema (Doriclytus) pallidiventre (Ogloblin) : Triapitsyn & Fidalgo 2006: 59 (discussion, record from Brazil).

Type material. Holotype female [ MLPA, examined], on slide labeled: "Loreto Misiones 8-XII-1931 Barypolynema Notopolynema pallidiventre Det. A. Ogloblin Holotipo Ψ 5123/1".

Additional material examined. BRAZIL. Santa Catarina, Nova Teutonia: 27.ix.1949, F. Plaumann (B.M. 1957–341) [1 female on slide, BMNH]; 17.x.1949, F. Plaumann (B.M. 1957–341) [1 female on slide, BMNH].

Redescription. FEMALE (2 non-type specimens from Nova Teutonia). Body mostly brown to dark brown except petiole light brown. Appendages light brown except flagellum, meso- and metatibiae (medially only), and apical tarsomeres brown.

Head ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 6 – 10 ) a little wider than mesosoma.

Antenna ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 6 – 10 ) with scape and pedicel sparsely setose; flagellum more densely so. Scape excluding radicle 3.6–3.8 x as long as wide and smooth; pedicel smooth, a little longer than F1; F2 the longest funicular segment, a little longer than F3; F4 slightly longer than F5; F5 about as long as F6; F6 the widest funicular segment; all funicular segments without longitudinal sensilla; clava 2.8–3.0 x as long as wide, a little less than combined length of four preceding segments, with 7 longitudinal sensilla.

Mesosoma ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 6 – 10 ) about 1.9 x as long as wide; mesonotum smooth except mesoscutum with a faint cellulate sculpture. Pronotum entire, with at least 5 pairs of short setae; mesoscutum wider than long (1.5–1.6:1); axillar seta short and weak; scutellum about as long as wide, scutellar placoid sensilla about midway between anterior margin of scutellum and frenal row of foveae; propodeum ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 6 – 10 ) with conspicuous transverse wrinkles (striations) and two short, incomplete submedial carinae at posterior margin.

Wings ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 6 – 10 ). Forewing 3.3–3.4 x as long as wide; marginal vein elongate, with 2 dorsal macrochaetae; disc slightly infumate, almost hyaline, densely setose beyond venation; longest marginal seta about 2/5 greatest forewing width. Hind wing about 25 x as long as wide; disc almost hyaline, with a complete row of setae along each margin (not counting long and short marginal setae); longest marginal seta 3.3–3.6 x greatest width of disc.

Legs. Protibia with 9 or 10 conical sensilla; metacoxa smooth, a little shorter than petiole.

Metasoma ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 6 – 10 ). Petiole about 4.0 x as long as wide. Ovipositor about 0.9 x length of gaster, not or barely exserted beyond gastral apex (by about 1/10 of total length of ovipositor); ovipositor length:metatibia length ratio about 0.8:1.

MALE. Unknown.

Diagnosis. See the key and also the diagnosis of P. (D.) nupogodi sp. n. Distribution. Argentina (Misiones) and Brazil (Santa Catarina). Hosts. Unknown.
