Metzgeria pubescens (Schrank) Raddi (1818: 35) View in CoL .

Basionym:— Jungermannia pubescens Schrank (1792: 231) .

Type: AUSTRIA.“An feuchten, schattingen Kalkfelsen der Gebirge um Salzburg.” Sauter [Rabenh., Hep. Europ. (Exs.) no. 84] (neotype: W designated by Grolle & So (2002)).

Metzgeria pubescens , like M. kinabaluensis , is distinguishing by pointed straight hairs densely covering both surfaces of thallus and margin. The species is widely Holarctic ( Masuzaki et al. 2010). In Thailand, M. pubescens was reported as Apometzgeria pubescens by Kitakawa (1969). Although the specimen referable to M. pubescens in Thailand is not available for this study, the phytogeographical distribution suggests that it belongs to M. kinabaluensis . Metzgeria pubescens , therefore, is excluded from the country.
