Cleptes (Holcocleptes) aerosus franciscae: Móczár 1998a: 325 (cat., aerosus group), 326 (key), 334 (tax.).
Type locality. Morocco: “Maroc, ♀ Type Mogador IV.1965 Coll. m.” .

Remarks. Cleptes aerosus franciscae is considered as a valid subspecies ( Móczár 1998a). It is clearly separated from the European subspecies by entirely dark colouration of metasoma (vs. light orange colouration on the first, second and basal third metasoma segments). Morphological characters are the reduced pits of the transversal pronotal line and of the longitudinal posterior row.
