Type:— BRAZIL. Goiás: 20 km NW of Corumba de Goiás near Pico dos Pirineus, 26 January 1968, H.S. Irwin, H. Maxwell & D.C. Wasshausen 19213 (holotype: NY!; isotypes: GH00053510 digital image!; RB!, US not seen).

Subshrubs 0.7–2 m high; branches puberulous; internodal stem wings absent. Leaves simple, blades elliptic, 6–12 × 2.5–4 cm, glabrous above and puberulous or glabrescent beneath; stipules absent. Inflorescence a raceme, 12–40 cm long, terminal or axillary; peduncles 2–6 cm long. Flowers 6–20, pedicels 5–10 mm long; bracts 7–15 × 2–4 mm, ovate- lanceolate, persistent; bracteoles 8–12 × 2–4 mm, ovate- lanceolate, persistent; calyx 10–17 mm long, deeply divided into 2 lips, puberulous; corolla yellow; the standard petal 1.3–1.8 × 1.1–1.5 cm; wing petals 1.4–1.6 cm long; keel petals 1.5–1.6 cm long, twisted; ovary 5mm long, sessile; style geniculate. Legumes and seeds not seen.

Distribution and Ecology: — Crotalaria goiasensis is found on mountain tops and gallery forests and forest edges, from 900 to 1200 m in elevation. The taxon is endemic to the Serra dos Pirineus mountains in Goiás.
