Dasymutilla araneoides temaxensis (Cameron)
Sphaerophthalma [ sic.] temaxensis Cameron, 1895. Biol. Cent.-Amer., Hym. 2:355. Holotype female, Mexico, Temax, N. Yucatan (Gaumer) (No. 15.850) [ BMNH] (examined). Reduced to subspecies rank: Mickel (1964:163).
Diagnosis of Female. This subspecies is identical to D. a. araneoides except for the size of the pale spots on tergum II. In D. a. temaxensis the spots are small, and tergum II is mostly black.
Male. Unknown.
Distribution. Mexico; Costa Rica; Panama.
Remarks. This subspecies is known only from the female holotype and a half dozen other specimens. All known specimens have been examined.
