Treatment

Emended diagnosis of Itaipusa (after Marcus 1949 and Karling 1980). Representative of Koinocystididae with a proboscis with a juncture sphincter. Copulatory bulb of conjucta duplex-type. Male duct armed with spiny rows (the cirrus), except in I. biglandula Reygel et al. (2011) , where it is unarmed. Without accessory sclerotised structures such as stylets or hooks.

Type species. Itaipusa divae Marcus, 1949 , by original designation.
