Urophora View in CoL a nis calcitrapae White and Korneyev, 1989

Found at 280±1500 m. ex Centaurea iberica : 2F, Ehden, Zgharta Co. (North Lebanon). ex C. iberica var. meryonis : 2M, Ainab, Aley Co. (Mount Lebanon); 1F, Jamhour, Baabda Co. (Mount Lebanon).

This species was monophagous, and was only reared from the heads of Centaurea iberica , mainly during June. It is larger than U. a nis a nis (Frauenfeld) and is known from the eastern Mediterranean area. White and Korneyev (1989) treated this taxon as a subspecies, pending biological evidence that it was either distinct, or simply a geographic variant (with a diOEerent host), of U. a nis.
