The species has been reported from the Antilles, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Surinam, the Neotropical region and South America ( Metcalf 1963a; Duffels and van der Laan 1985; Boulard 1998; Salazar Escobar 2005). Some of these records are probably references to a number of related species described by Boulard and Martinelli (1996). The species has been recorded from Bogotà ( Distant 1881a; Jacobi 1907), Caldas, Salamina, Tolima, Bosque de Mariquita, and Putomayo and Pto Leguízamo-Río Caucayá ( Salazar Escobar 2005) in Colombia.
