The specimen illustrated by Salazar Escobar (2005) has the same wing venation and general body markings as specimens of P. invaria in the author’s collection from Colombia. Analysis of a picture of the specimen in the UNCC confirmed the identity. The species has been recorded from Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Guyana, French Guiana, Honduras, Antilles and Central and South America ( Metcalf 1963a; Duffels and van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2007a, 2010). The species has been reported from Valle, Río Garrapatas and Valle, Río Dovio in Colombia ( Salazar Escobar 2005).
Material examined. “ COLOMBIA, Dept. of Cauca, Río Micay.López , Flight trap, 19 May 1977, M.A. Ridwell ” (one female, FSCA; one female, AFSC) ; “ COLOMBIA, Valle , B/tura, 28/III/1971 ” (one female CUIC; one female, AFSC) ; “ COLOMBIA, Valle , B/tura, 18/III/1971 ” (one female CUIC) . Photograph of a female “ COLOMBIA Valle, Río Dovio , Myo 8/97, leg. Salazar ” ( UNCC).
