Calligrapha malvae Stål 1859: 322 .
This species was originally named in the genus Calligrapha View in CoL but was subsequently treated in Zygogramma View in CoL for many years. Wilcox (1972) correctly noted that it might be conspecific with “ Zygogramma tortuosa (Rogers) ”. Many specimens are intermediate with regards to the putative diagnostic characters. However, this question warrants further investigation, and no such taxonomic change is formalized here. Riley et al. (2003) listed “ Zygogramma malvae ” from Arizona, Texas, and Mexico. Hosts have been reported as various species of both Asteraceae View in CoL and Malvaceae ( Clark et al. 2004) View in CoL .
