Paussus (Hylotorus) cephalotes Raffray, 1886 View in CoL

Material examined. GRNR: 1772 m: 04.IV.2017, HP, 1 ♂ .

Distribution. END_AR species, occurring in southwestern Arabian Peninsula (SA, YE).

Life forms and Remarks. Myrmecophilous (M) species. Paussus cephalotes was described from a specimen collected by Dr. Millingen from Hejaz Mountains of western KSA without specific locality ( Nagel 1982). No specimen matching the original description ( Raffray 1886) has subsequently been collected until Van Harten

collected two specimens from Yemen (Rada’a and Sana’a) in 1998 ( Luna de Carvalho 2000 a, b). During recent entomological survey in Baha Province, southwestern Saudi Arabia, El-Hawagry et al. (2013) reported specimens of P. cephalotes from Jebel Shada during April-June at 1600 m and Moore & Robertson (2014) report this species from Al Bahah, Baljurashi forest. The species is recorded for first time from Asir Province. The single specimen was collected under stones in an Opuntia ficus-indica community at an altitude of 1772 m .

The subgenus assignment “ Hylotorus ” is adopted from Robertson & Moore (2016).
