Type: — PERU. Huánuco: Playapampa, Macbride 4510 (holotype F, isotype US).
Distribution and ecology: —Andes of southern Ecuador (Loja, Zamora-Chinchipe), Peru, and Bolivia. Common, forming dense colonies in cloud forests, elfin forests, or on exposed ridges at 2000–3400 m.
