Length: Male holotype, 9.1 mm. Male holotype. Head ( Figs 50, 51 View FIGURES 50–57 ), in dorsal view, well produced anteriorly, triangular, anterior margin narrowly rounded; apex of crown, in lateral view, directed dorsally; crown with median length 2/3 interocular width and 2/5 transocular width; surface of crown with three distinct foveae, one on median portion and pair externally to ocelli; epicranial suture partially distinct, temporal and frontogenal sutures distinct. Pronotum ( Figs 50, 51 View FIGURES 50–57 ), in dorsal view, with width approximately equal to transocular width. Forewings ( Fig. 50 View FIGURES 50–57 ) with membrane distinct on apical portion, including apical cells.

Head, pronotum, and mesonotum ( Figs 50, 51 View FIGURES 50–57 ) dark brown. Pronotum with transverse pale yellow stripe broadened medially and extending onto lateral lobes. Forewings ( Fig. 50 View FIGURES 50–57 ) brown, with macula on basal portion of clavus and with transverse stripe on corium extending from apex of clavus to costal margin, pale yellow. Frons with broad pale yellow macula on median portion, not attaining epistomal suture and bordering anterior margin of crown. Legs pale red with apex of tibiae and tarsi dark brown.

Pygofer ( Fig. 52 View FIGURES 50–57 ), in lateral view, approximately twice as long as subgenital plates; apical portion with numerous small setae; macrosetae on apical portion, extending anteriorly along ventral margin; with inner, long curved process bearing numerous setae on ventral margin of preapical portion. Subgenital plates ( Fig. 53 View FIGURES 50–57 ), in ventral view, strongly narrowed toward apical portion, with macrosetae near outer margin. Styles ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 50–57 ), in dorsal view, very short, extending posteriorly slightly beyond apex of connective; with distinct preapical lobe on outer margin; apex truncate. Connective ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 50–57 ), in dorsal view, with stalk very short and broad; arms slender, slightly longer than stalk. Aedeagus ( Fig. 55 View FIGURES 50–57 ) with shaft, in lateral view, expanding gradually toward apex, with small dorsoapical lobe. Paraphyses ( Figs 56, 57 View FIGURES 50–57 ), in dorsal view, with anterior rami broad and short, directed dorsoanteriorly in lateral view, posterior pair directed dorsoposteriorly, longer and more slender than anterior one; stalk broad and shorter than posterior rami. Anal tube (segment X) without processes or areas bearing small setae.

Female genitalia. Unknown.

Etymology. The specific epithet, paulista , refers to the natives from São Paulo State, Brazil.

Type-material. Brazil, São Paulo State. Holotype: male, “ São Paulo, Campos da\ Serra, Cabeceiras do\ Rio M´boy Guassú,\ 25.XI.1940, F. Lane ” ( OSU).
