Glenea subrubricollis Lin et Tavakilian View in CoL sp. nov.

( Figs 37–42 View FIGURES 37 – 39 View FIGURES 40 – 42 )

Description. Male: length: 23.0 mm, humeral width: 6.4 mm. Female: length: 18.5–26.8 mm, humeral width: 5.3–7.8 mm. Body red to reddish brown. Head with a white pubescence stripe on each gena, an orange stripe from antennal insertion around eye to gena, two small orange stripes between antennae insertions. Antennae reddish brown, annulated with pale white pubescence on basal parts of antennomeres 3–11, annulated with dark brown color on apical parts of antennomeres 3–11. Each side of prothorax with a snow-white stripe near coxa. Scutellum reddish brown, with whitish or yellowish pubescence on apex. Elytron reddish brown, with 9–11 orange pubescent maculae: a fairly large stripe at middle of base, slightly longer than scutellum; 2 subround spots after basal stripe, larger one near suture and smaller one near margin and behind larger one; a large median, obliquely transverse stripe extending from near elytral carina backwards to suture; 1–3 small spots between middle and basal 1/4; 3 spots between middle and apex, a larger one near suture and 2 smaller ones near margin; a transverse, slightly curved stripe just before apex. Ventral surface reddish brown, with several orange pubescent maculae: one on apical parts of mesepisternum, mesepimeron and metepisternum; 4 on apical parts of each of abdominal segments 1–4. Femora reddish brown and glossy; tibiae reddish brown, with black hair on grooves; tarsi with reddish yellow hairs. Head hardly as broad as prothorax. Eyes medially emarginate, inferior eyelobes slightly longer (male) or shorter (female) than genae below, width broader than (male) or subequal to (female) half of frons. Frons trapeziform, with a median groove extending to occiput and a small groove from antennal insertion around eye to gena, punctures fine and sparse. Antennae relative slender, slightly longer than (male) or subequal to or shorter than (female) body; scape expanded without cicatrix, third antennomere slightly expanded, stouter than remaining antennomeres; antennomere ratio: 28

5 28 28 28 26 25 23 22 20 25; female: 28 5 29 26 28 26 24 22 20 18 20. Prothorax slightly narrower from base to apex, very finely punctured. Elytra densely and coarsely punctured, with a black hair from each puncture, almost arranged in rows; each elytron with 2 carinae nearly reaching apex, apex truncated with a short tooth at suture and margin, respectively. Legs stout, middle tibia grooved, hind femur reaching fifth abdominal segment, first hind tarsal segment shorter than following two segments combined. Male and female claws simple. Male terminalia ( Figs 40 View FIGURES 40 – 42 a–c): Tegmen length about 3.5 mm; lateral lobes slender, narrower apically, each about 0.6 mm long and 0.1 mm wide, with a finely haired ridge at the base (in ventral view), apex with fairly long setae shorter than lateral lobes; basal piece bifurcated distally; median lobe plus median struts slightly curved, longer than tegmen (41:35); median struts less than 2/3 of whole median lobe in length; dorsal plate slightly shorter than ventral plate; apex of ventral plate rounded and slightly projected; median foramen triangle elongated; internal sac about 3 times of median lobe plus median struts in length, with 4 pieces of basal armature and 4 rods; each rod about 2.5 mm long, shorter than tegmen. Tergite VIII ( Fig. 41 View FIGURES 40 – 42 ) broader than long, apex nearly rounded, seems to grooved in middle, with short but dense setae. Ventrite IX subequal to ringed part of tegmen in length. Female terminalia ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 40 – 42 ): spermathecal capsule composed of an apical lobe and a stalk, apical lobe with a special point at apex, stalk slightly curved, shorter than twice of apical lobe. Tignum shorter than abdomen.

Diagnosis. Differs from G. nigrorubricollis Lin et Yang sp. nov in having long scape subequal to antennomere 3, antennomere 3 stouter than antennomere 4, median pubescent macula on elytron with different shape and pubescent spots on abdominal segments all orange; differs from G. rubricollis in having orange stripes on frons and antennomere 3 stouter.

Etymology. Because it is similar to G. rubricollis .

Remarks. The spermathecal capsule of this species is similar to that of G. nigrorubricollis but the stalk is much shorter than that of G. nigrorubricollis .

Distribution. Vietnam.
