Specimens examined. 1♂, 2♀, Jazan, Abu Aresh, Al-Mahdag village , 1.ii.–3.vi.2011, Malaise trap, H.A. Dawah ( CERS) ; same data but, 1.ii.2011 ( CERS) ; 2♀, Asir, Abha, Hay Al-Nusub , 14.iv.2001, sweeping grasses, H.A. Dawah ( NMWC; CERS) ; 1♂, Asir, Keratha, Al-Ethrebany Fruit Farm , 15.v.–11.vi.2006, Malaise trap, H.A. Dawah ( CERS) ; 2♂, Asir, Abha, Madenate Al-Ameer Sultan , 25.ii.–25.v.2002, Malaise trap, H.A. Dawah ( CERS) .
Distribution. It was recorded from Saudi Arabia by Dawah & Abdullah (2006); El-Hawagry et al. (2016; 2017). It was described from Egypt and further recorded from Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia ( Sabrosky 1980).
Remarks. This species is a primary attacker of shoots of Poaceae . It has been reared in Africa from cultivated sorghum, bullrush millet and maize. Other host plants listed by Deeming (1972: 20) are Sorghum verticilliflorum (Steud.), Pennisetum purpureum Schumach , Hyparrhenia cyanescens (Stapf) , Sporobolus pyramidalis Beauv. , Oryza barthii A. (Chev.), Echinochloa sp., Eleusine coracana Gaertn. , and Setaria sphacelata M.b. Moss ( Dawah & Abdullah 2006; Deeming & Al-Dhafer 2012).
