Type Locality: Uzbekistan, NW Kizil-Kum (Kyzylkum) Desert, 80 km NE Takhta-Kupir, 8 km E Gori Kok-Tobe.

Vernacular Names: Heptner's Pygmy Jerboa.

Distribution: Uzbekistan and S Kazakhstan, NW and N Kyzylkum desert (see Shenbrot et al., 1995; Vorontsov and Shenbrot, 1984).

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).

Discussion: Subgenus Prosalpingotus . Reviewed by Gromov and Erbajeva (1995) and Shenbrot et al. (1995).
