Cylindrospermopsis catemaco Komárková-Legnerová & R.Tavera (1996: 413, 413, fig. 6)
Strains:— CHAB 148, CHAB 151, CHAB 155 and CHAB 220 from a pond in Kunming City, Yunnan Province; CHAB 1390 and CHAB 1391 from Lake Chidong in Huang’gang City, Hubei Province.
Habitat:— In lakes and ponds, planktonic.
Description:— Trichomes solitary, free floating, irregularly screw-like coiled, not constricted at the cross-walls, narrowed and sharply pointed at both ends, ( Fig. 1M–Q View FIGURE 1 ). Cells cylindrical, slightly attenuated towards the ends, 4.0– 8.3–15.0 μm long, 1.3–3.4–4.1 μm wide (L:W ratio 1.3–2.9–5.0), apical cells sharply pointed at the ends. Heterocytes cylindrical to ellipsoidal, bluntly pointed at the ends, sometimes curved, 2.9–7.6–10.9 μm long, 1.4–3.3–4.4 μm wide (L:W ratio 1.4–3.6–4.5). Akinetes cylindrical to ellipsoidal, rounded at the ends, usually curved, 4.9–11.6–18.9 μm long, 2.0–5.0–7.0 μm wide (L:W ratio 1.3–1.9–5.0).
Notes:— C. catemaco was identified according to its irregularly screw-like coiled trichomes, apical cells narrowed and sharply pointed at the ends, and their heterocytes curved, drop-like, slightly narrowed to the rounded ends.
