Distribution within NE: Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura. Distribution within Arunachal Pradesh: River Kameng (West Kameng District), River Siang (East Siang District), Rivers Pachin and Dikrong (Papumpare District), Tirap District.

Special remarks: Its habitat comprises of fast flowing streams. It can be distinguished from P. chola by the absence of barbels (a pair of maxillary barbel present in P. chola ) and a black blotch normally present at the 18- 19 th scale on the lateral line. At the national level its status is vulnerable however in context to Arunachal Pradesh it is commonly found.
