Lectotype (Sell in Watsonia 16: 368. 1987): Herb. Clifford: 388, Hieracium 6, right inflorescence (BM-000646879) .

Generitype of Hieracium Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 178. 1929).

Current name: Hieracium murorum L. ( Asteraceae ).

Note: Pugsley (in J. Linn. Soc., Bot. 54: 4. 1948) noted the existence of 954.22 (LINN) but concluded that the name should be regarded, in its segregate sense, as a nomen confusum. However, Sell’s subsequent typification has allowed the name to continue in use in its usual sense.
