Distribution: Portugal, Spain, France, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia and Montenegro, Transcaucasia; Morocco, Tunisa, Egypt, Algeria, and Libya; Mediterranean islands, Turkey, Cyprus, Iran, Iraq, Israel, and Jordan; Afghanistan.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Vulnerable.
Discussion: euryale species group. Revised by DeBlase (1972); also see Harrison and Bates (1991), Paz (1995), Zagorodnyuk (1999), Horácek et al. (2000), and Gaisler (2001 c). Includes tuneti; see Cockrum (1976 b).
