Colouration (fig. 10). Body transparent, with longitudinal dark stripes on abdomen and carapace.
Distribution. Type locality Hawaii. Common and widespread throughout most of the Indo-Pacific region.
Remarks. The specimens agree well with the previous descriptions and illustrations. The female specimen of MNHN-Na 17561 with both the second pereiopods lost, the telson was also damaged, but the feature of position of posterior pair of dorsolateral spines of the telson which arises much nearer to the anterior pair than to the posterior end can be caught, this specimen was collected together with 1 ovigerous female of Cuapetes ensifrons (Dana, 1852) (MNHN-Na 17562), 1 ovigerous female of Harpilius consobrinus De Man, 1902 (MNHN-Na 17560), and 1 female of Palaemonella spinulata Yokoya, 1936 (MNHN-Na 17563) at Station 23. The specimen of MNHN-Na 17576 was collected together with 1 male of Cuapetes ensifrons (Dana, 1852) (MNHN-Na 17575) at Station 14. The specimen of MNHN-Na 16061 was collected together with 1 male of Palaemonella rotumana ( Borradaile, 1898) (MNHN-Na 17555) at Station 32. The species was not previously recorded with certainty from Mayotte, although it was previously recorded from Madagascar and Mozambique. The colouration of the species is reported for the first time.
