This species was previously known from the Antilles, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Brazil (MG, MS, SC), Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay and Argentina ( Drake 1952; Drake and Plaumann 1953, 1955; Drake and Hussey 1955; Nieser and Melo 1997), and is recorded for the first time from Espírito Santo State.
