03EC878BFFE6B93080D4FD063655FBA7.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The females from this study are teneral specimen, without the development of the dorsal plates. However, there is a tendency visible for the forming of plates and platelets. Due to the shifting of the glandularia of Cx-IV well up onto Cx-III it is possible to identify the specimens.	en	Smit, Harry, Pešić, Vladimir (2025): New records of hygrobatid water mites from SE Australia (Acari: Hydrachnidia Hygrobatidae) with the description of ten new species. 03EC878BFFEDB93E80D4F8D83700FECF.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Presence of a papillate integument and a characteristic shape of the palp (palpal segment comparatively long, especially P 3, which bulging in its posterior half, and P- 4 with two relatively short and thin setae, placed close to each other) separate the new species from all other members of the genus Australiobates. The fusion of the ventral sclerites into a ventral sclerites in the males makes the new species similar to A. ventriscutatus Cook, 1986, a species which can be easily separated in the shape of the palp (palpal segment relatively stocky, ventral setae on P- 4 relatively long, see figure 478 in Cook 1986) and the absence of a papillate integument. Note that the level of secondary sclerotization can vary and in juvenile specimens the ventral shield is not formed (see below under Variability). Variability. The degree of secondary sclerotization is age dependant. For example in juvenile specimens from Mumbulla Creek the ventral shield is still not formed as illustrated in Figure 7 B. However, the structure of the palp (Figure 7 D) in combination with a papillate integument (Figure 7 A) allows easy identification of the new species.	en	Smit, Harry, Pešić, Vladimir (2025): New records of hygrobatid water mites from SE Australia (Acari: Hydrachnidia Hygrobatidae) with the description of ten new species. 03EC878BFFF0B92880D4FCCA369AFE23.taxon	discussion	Remarks. With Cook (1986) the new species keys out as G. dalvotus Cook, 1986, a species known from Queensland and Victoria (Cook 1986) but differs in the configuration of the glandularia of the posterior dorsal plate (most posterior pair fused in new species but free in G. dalvotus, see Fig. 623 in Cook 1986). Moreover, in G. dalvotus the posterior suture line of Cx-IV extends almost to the pair of glandularia (Vgl- 3) (see Figs. 618 and 620 in Cook 1986), while in the new species the latter pair of glandularia is shifted away from the posterior suture line of Cx-IV. Moreover Cx-IV of G. dalvotus are more elongated compared to the new species.	en	Smit, Harry, Pešić, Vladimir (2025): New records of hygrobatid water mites from SE Australia (Acari: Hydrachnidia Hygrobatidae) with the description of ten new species. 03EC878BFFFCB92A80D4FE46369AFAA7.taxon	discussion	Remarks. In regard to the shape of the gnathosomal rostrum which is of more or less uniform height along its length, the new species resembles K. vietsi. The latter species can easily be separated from the new species by the shape of palp with P- 2 lacking denticles and P- 3 with a well-developed ventral projection in posterior half of the segment (see Fig. 671 in Cook 1986).	en	Smit, Harry, Pešić, Vladimir (2025): New records of hygrobatid water mites from SE Australia (Acari: Hydrachnidia Hygrobatidae) with the description of ten new species. 03EC878BFFF8B92E80D4FE473648FC2B.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The morphology of the examined females agrees well with Cook’s description of P. pachydermis. In the specimen from the Leatherbarrel Creek the medial pair of glandularia posterior to postocularia plate are separate from the platelet (Figure 15). Cook (1986) mentioned that the latter pair of glandularia in the female tends to be separate from the medial dorsalia, or are fused on one side only.	en	Smit, Harry, Pešić, Vladimir (2025): New records of hygrobatid water mites from SE Australia (Acari: Hydrachnidia Hygrobatidae) with the description of ten new species. The male of latter species differs in the shape of genital field with the anterior margin strongly projecting (see fig. 750 in Cook 1986), much enlarged paired postocularia plates and the palp lacking denticles on both P 2 and P 3, with comparatively longer and pointed ventral projection of P- 4 (see fig. 747 in Cook 1986).	en	Smit, Harry, Pešić, Vladimir (2025): New records of hygrobatid water mites from SE Australia (Acari: Hydrachnidia Hygrobatidae) with the description of ten new species. 03EC878BFFC1B91780D4FD1D369AF8BF.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Due to the shape of the ventral projection of the male P- 3 the new species resembles Rhynchaustrobates tasmanicus Cook, 1986 and R. victorianus Smit, 2015. Rhynchaustrobates tasmanicus can easily be separated from the new species in the shape of the genital field platelet with the anterior margin nearly straight, medially slightly idented (see Fig. 702 in Cook 1986), excretory pore free on the dorsal side, not incorporated into the genital field platelet and the curved projection on the ventral margin of P- 3 comparatively much slender (see Fig. 697 in Cook 1986). Rhynchaustrobates victorianus has a smaller curved projection on the ventral margin of P- 3 and the genital field in incorporated in the ventral shield.	en	Smit, Harry, Pešić, Vladimir (2025): New records of hygrobatid water mites from SE Australia (Acari: Hydrachnidia Hygrobatidae) with the description of ten new species.
