3E5B2F5A047A2F5BFF44FEA1FEE0F834.taxon	etymology	Etymology. The term ‘ aurantiamaculata ’ is derived from two Latin words ‘ aurantiacus’ and ‘ maculatus’, which denotes ‘ orange colour patches’ of on the body of the new species.	en	Mandal, Pritha, Mandal, Guru Pada, Kar, Surajit (2025): Two new species of Salina MacGillivray (Collembola: Entomobryidae), with descriptive notes on two endemic species from India. 3E5B2F5A047A2F5BFF44FEA1FEE0F834.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Salina (S.) aurantiamaculata sp. nov. belongs to the celebensis - group due to the presence of s / 2 / s / 1 mac on Abd. II (Yoshii 1981), lesser dorsal body chaetae, and a relatively shorter mucro (Mitra 1973, 1993). The new species possesses patches of uniform bright orange pigmentation similar to S. (S.) maculipenis Oliveira & Cipola, 2018 and S. (S.) speciosa Kinoshita, 1917. However, they are distinct in body pigment pattern and chaetotaxy (see Table 2). We observed that in Th. II, a ‘ p’ chaeta (p 3) becomes smaller in some adult specimens (likely a mes). Comparison between S. (S.) aurantiamaculata sp. nov. and other Indian species of the genus is given in the Table 1.	en	Mandal, Pritha, Mandal, Guru Pada, Kar, Surajit (2025): Two new species of Salina MacGillivray (Collembola: Entomobryidae), with descriptive notes on two endemic species from India. 3E5B2F5A04732F4FFF44FEA1FAC7FA74.taxon	etymology	Etymology. The pigment pattern of the new species resembles Salina (S.) montana (Imms, 1912) Salmon, 1957, therefore, the name ‘ pseudomontana’ is proposed.	en	Mandal, Pritha, Mandal, Guru Pada, Kar, Surajit (2025): Two new species of Salina MacGillivray (Collembola: Entomobryidae), with descriptive notes on two endemic species from India. 3E5B2F5A04732F4FFF44FEA1FAC7FA74.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Salina (S.) pseudomontana sp. nov. resembles S. (S.) montana and S. (S.) celebensis (Schaffer, 1898) in color pattern, though it markedly differs in chaetotaxy. Salina (S.) montana and S. (S.) celebensis have 6, 4, 3 and 5, 2, 2 central mac on Th. III, Abd. I and Abd. II, respectively, whereas the new species has 9, 6, 4 mac on the respective segments. On the other hand, the new species possesses a few similarities in Th. II and Th. III chaetotaxy with S. (S.) yosiii Salmon, 1964 and S. (S.) javana (Handschin, 1928). Even so, the new species differs from them in the pigment pattern of the body viz. Salina (S.) pseudomontana sp. nov. exhibits square boxes of blue pigment centrally on Th. III – Abd. I, whereas S. (S.) yosiii have trapezoidal patches placed laterally. Salina (S.) insignis (Handschin, 1928) from Java and the new species also share a somewhat similar pigment pattern, but unlike the new species, the former species has 2 square – shaped spots on the Abd. IV and tergal margins without pigment. A comparison between of the Indian species of Salina, including the new species, is provided in Table 1.	en	Mandal, Pritha, Mandal, Guru Pada, Kar, Surajit (2025): Two new species of Salina MacGillivray (Collembola: Entomobryidae), with descriptive notes on two endemic species from India. 3E5B2F5A046E2F4EFF44FBD9FA8EFD24.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Salina (S.) quattuorfasciata was firstly described by Handschin (1928) as Cremastocephalus quattuorfasciatus from the river side foliage of Anaikatti forest of Silent valley, India. Later, Prabhoo (1971) reported it from a tea garden of Wyanad, Kerala, with specimens bearing less pigmentation at the posterior Abd. IV, somewhat similar to our specimens, which show less pigmentation on Abd. V – VI (Fig. 10 C). However, the rest of the body pigment patches are similar to those in the original description of Handschin (1928). Here, a detailed chaetotaxy of the species is provided for the first time, along with features that were absent from the previous descriptions.	en	Mandal, Pritha, Mandal, Guru Pada, Kar, Surajit (2025): Two new species of Salina MacGillivray (Collembola: Entomobryidae), with descriptive notes on two endemic species from India. 3E5B2F5A046F2F4EFF44FD28FD94F818.taxon	discussion	Remarks. S. (S.) striata closely resembles S. (S.) tricolor (Handschin, 1928) in color pattern (Fig. 10 G) and chaetotaxy (Mitra 1973), being difficult to distinguish these two species. Here we provide S. (S.) striata chaetotaxy and image of a characteristic ‘ M’ shaped mark on its head (Fig. 12 B), which could ease in separating this species from close relative S. (S.) tricolor and S. (S.) vietnamensis Stach, 1965. Although, S. (S.) vietnamensis has a s / 2 / s / 1 central mac pattern on Abd. II and 3 + 3 mac on Abd. I, it differs from S. (S.) tricolor and S. (S.) striata, which exhibit s / 2 / s / 2 pattern on Abd. I (see Table 1).	en	Mandal, Pritha, Mandal, Guru Pada, Kar, Surajit (2025): Two new species of Salina MacGillivray (Collembola: Entomobryidae), with descriptive notes on two endemic species from India. (S.) grieta Tyagi and Baijal, 1979, due to insufficient descriptions and limited chaetotaxic information.	en	Mandal, Pritha, Mandal, Guru Pada, Kar, Surajit (2025): Two new species of Salina MacGillivray (Collembola: Entomobryidae), with descriptive notes on two endemic species from India.
