Females (n = 4): LB (LH + LP + LE) = 18.0 – 19.0 mm; LH = 3.0 mm; WH = 3.0 – 3.5 mm; LP = 3.0 mm; WP = 5.0 mm; LE = 12.0 – 13.0 mm; WEH = 6.0 mm. Redescription. Adult male. Teguments: head, prothorax, abdomen, and legs dark brown to matte black, antennae brown to dark brown. Head densely covered with tomentose white to yellowish pubescence, denser at the frons; long erect black setae randomly scattered at frons, denser at the posterior margin. Antennae dark brown, more than twice longer than body length, densely covered with very fine whitish recumbent pubescence; scape slightly robust, with apical cicatrix; antennomeres III – V of the same length. Eyes dark brown and mandible dark brown to matte black. Elytra twice longer than wide, tomentose, coarsely punctate near the base up to apical third, finer towards apical end; densely covered with light to dark brown recumbent setae; with three vertical bands of white to yellowish recumbent setae: slender S-shaped at the basal third, broad C-shaped at postmedian from elytral margin up to near suture, and a small band at the apical end. Elytra apical margin flat, elytral suture miniscule. Scutellum rounded, matte black, densely covered with recumbent white setae. Prothorax armed at each side, slightly recurved white band of longitudinal recumbent setae at each sides. Basal margin of pronotum lined with white recumbent pubescence, minute band of white pubescence near the basal margin, disc slightly raised. Legs dark brown to matte black. Coxae, trochanters black densely covered with white recumbent pubescence; femur and tibiae dark brown, densely covered with minute recumbent pubescence with erect golden-brown bristles at the apex. Claws dark brown. Prosternum, mesosternum, metasternum, abdominal sternites matte black covered with white recumbent pubescence. Metepisternum paralleled, lanceolate at the apical end, covered with whitish and yellowish recumbent pubescence. Pygidium matte black, widely ovate at apex, densely covered with yellowish and black erect setae. Genitalia. Endophallus approximately twice as long as the whole system of genitalia (Fig. 4 A). Tegmen relatively slender, parameres broad; apex of parameres lined with long erect yellowish setae. Aedeagus strongly recurved when viewed laterally (Fig. 4 I), slightly bottle-shaped ventrally (Fig. 4 F), and apical third steeply angled towards a relatively blunt apical tip. Adult Female. Morphologically similar to males except females are broader and larger. Antennae slightly longer than body length but much shorter compared to males. Females have two-toned (basal third or basal half with whitish or yellowish recumbent pubescence, the other half covered with black recumbent pubescence) antennomeres III – VI, males do not have two-toned antennomeres. Pronotum wider than long, lateral side armed covered with a thick band of whitish to bluish green recumbent pubescence; basal end lined with thin band of whitish pubescence; median line along the base with a small patch of whitish pubescence. Elytra is twice wider than long, with three bands of whitish to bluish-green recumbent pubescence: with deep punctures randomly distributed from base up to apical third, finer towards apex; one band at apical third, a relatively thick C-shaped band from the elytral margin disrupted at the middle (or connected with a very thin line of pubescence, almost unnoticeable) another thick band from the middle towards near suture; second, a thick C-shaped postmedian from the margin not reaching elytral suture; and third, a thick U or V-shaped band near the elytral apex. Apex is slightly truncated with a very small sutural spine. Legs dark brown to matte black. Claws dark brown. Mesosternum angled when viewed laterally. Mesepimeron, mesepisternum, metasternum, and metepisternum dark brown to matte black, covered with whitish to yellowish recumbent pubescence. Base of metepisternum covered with relatively thick band of whitish pubescence, paralleled, lanceolate towards apex. Ventrite I longer and broader than ventrite II – IV, densely covered with semi-erect whitish and black pubescence. Ventrite V densely covered with whitish recumbent pubescence and apex lined with long erect yellowish setae. Genitalia. Endophallus approximately twice longer than the whole system of genitalia (Fig. 4 D). Tegmen broader at sides; apex of parameres lined with long erect yellowish setae. Aedeagus highly recurved, bottle-shaped at apical third, lanceolate towards a pointed apex (Figure 4 B & G). Adult female. Male and female species are morphologically similar except with the following characteristics: Antennomeres III to VIII of females are two-toned, with a band of whitish recumbent pubescence either at the basal third or basal half of antennomeres, the rest with black recumbent pubescence. Elytra with deep punctures randomly distributed from base to apical third, finer towards apex; with three bands of whitish recumbent pubescence arranged as follows: one at pre-median near apical third a thick zigzag band of whitish recumbent pubescence from elytral margin up to near suture; second at post-median, relatively thick band of whitish pubescence from elytral margin up to near suture; and third, a thick U-shaped band of whitish near elytral apex. Humeri angled, slightly raised. Apex truncated, margin lined with fine semi-erect yellowish pubescence. Mesosternum angled when viewed laterally; mesepimeron, metepisternum, metasternum and abdominal ventrites densely covered with whitish and black recumbent pubescence; mesepisternum paralleled, lanceolate towards apex, lateral ends moderately depressed. Legs dark brown to matte black, covered with whitish or yellowish recumbent pubescence; claw dark brown, glabrous. Genitalia. Endophallus is more than twice as long as the whole system of genitalia; the endophallus is very thin (Fig. 4 C). Postmedian of the aedeagus towards apex bottle-shaped strongly recurved when viewed ventrally, highly recurved when viewed laterally; apex of aedeagus steeply angled and highly pointed (Fig. E). Tegmen broad yellowish, parameres broad does not meet at the apex; apex of parameres lined with long erect yellowish setae (Fig. K). Adult female. The female is morphologically similar to males except females are generally larger than males. Antennomeres III to VI in females are two-toned with a small band of whitish pubescence at the basal third or half, the rest is black recumbent pubescence; a very faint band of whitish pubescence at the basal end of antennomere VII. Antennae dark brown, more than twice longer than body length, densely covered with very fine whitish recumbent pubescence; scape slightly robust, apex with cicatrix; antennomeres III to V equal in length, the rest of antenommeres shorter and slenderer. Prothorax. Pronotum wider than long, sparsely punctate at disc; propleuron covered with fine yellowish recumbent pubescence; prosternum densely covered with semi-erect whitish pubescence. Elytra twice longer than wide, widest at humeri, highly pun ctate from base to apical third, finer towards apex. Elytra with three bands of whitish pubescence: thin broken S-shaped band near apical third, thin C-shaped postmedian band that does not reach suture, and a faint band near apex. Apex truncate, margin lined with short semi-erect yellowish setae, with very short marginal spine. Legs dark brown to matte black, covered with fine whitish recumbent pubescence. Mesosternum, mesepisternum, and metaventrite covered with recumbent pubescence; mesepimeron and metepisternum covered with brownish recumbent pubescence. Metepisternum elongated, triangular, base covered with a small band of whitish pubescence. Ventrites I to V densely covered with whitish or brown pubescence, whitish pubescence concentrated medially. Ventrite I broader and wider than ventrites II to V. Pygidium rounded, covered with semi-erect brownish setae. Antennomeres III to VI two-toned covered with whitish recumbent pubescence at basal third, the rest covered with black pubescence. Antennomeres III and IV subequal = 3.5 mm. Antennomeres VII to XI covered with fine black recumbent pubescence. Head. With three white bands of recumbent whitish pubescence, S-shaped band at basal third, postmedian with broad and straight transverse band not reaching elytral suture, small relatively thick C-shaped band near apex (See Fig. 1 H). Humeri angled, slightly raised. Elytra apex flat and sparsely lined with semi-erect whitish and blackish setae. Scutellum rounded covered with dense whitish recumbent pubescence. Legs. Procoxae raised, dark brown densely covered with fine yellowish recumbent pubescence; middle and hind coxa not raised. Femora robust, densely covered with fine yellowish and whitish recumbent pubescence. Tibia covered with yellowish recumbent pubescence, with semi-erect setae concentrated at apical half. Tarsi and basal third of claw matte black, covered with semi-erect black setae; apical third of claw dark brown. Claw simple. Mesosternum parallel, flat, angled as viewed laterally, covered with fine white recumbent pubescence. Mesepimeron as long as wide, slightly concave at median, sparsely covered with whitish and yellowish recumbent pubescence. Mesepisternum rectangular, covered with whitish and yellowish recumbent pubescence. Metepisternum triangular, sparsely covered with whitish and yellowish recumbent pubescence. Metaventrite as long as wide, basal half densely covered with whitish recumbent pubescence, apical half covered with black recumbent pubescence. Adult male. This new species is similar to the other four species of Cyriotasiastes in the Philippines for having three bands of whitish pubescence in the elytra; with dense punctures from the base to the apical third of the elytra, finer towards the apex; and body tapering towards the apex of elytra. The new species differs from C. rhetenor mindorensis for having two-toned antennomeres III to VI (vs. two-toned antennomeres III to VIII in C. mindorensis). The bands of pubescence in the elytra are much thicker compared with C. rhetenor rhetenor. It is also distinct from C. rhetenor solsonanensis for having no long erect black setae at frons. And it is distinct from C. rhetenor panayensis for having an acute triangular shaped metepisternum, base without depression (vs. metepisternum elongated triangular shaped, base with depression in C. rhetenor panayensis).
