Ameiva parecis (Colli, Costa, Garda, Kopp, Mesquita, Péres Jr, Valdujo, Vieira & Wiederhecker 2003)

Type-locality. Fazenda Cachoeira, 50 km NW of Vilhena, state of Rondônia, Brazil, alt. 612 m (12°32’07”S, 60°25’36”W).

Distribution and habitat. Ameiva parecis is endemic to enclaves of open vegetation in the states of Rondônia and Mato Grosso, Brazil, in southern Amazonia (Fig. 5). It is terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits cerrado vegetation surrounded by terra firme forest, where it is found on open sandy soil and under shrubs (Colli et al. 2003a).
