Bombus (Pyrobombus) sandersoni Franklin, 1913

Counties: Aitkin, Anoka, Becker, Beltrami, Benton, Cass, Clearwater, Cook, Hubbard, Itasca, Kanabec, Kittson, Koochiching, Lake, Lake of the Woods, Pine, Polk, Saint Louis.

Comments: Historically, B. sandersoni has been frequently confused with other species, particularly B. vagans (Plowright and Pallet 1978, Milam et al. 2020). Review of specimens reveals that B. sandersoni is primarily a northern species in Minnesota, but we have confirmed specimens as far south as Anoka County, just north of the Twin Cities.
