Status in Afghanistan. First identified from Afghanistan by McClelland (1842); listed by Coad (1981: 12 as status uncertain; 2014: 321 as a synonym of S. esocinus).—Afghanistan materials: None.

Distribution and habitat. Distribution in Afghanistan: Kabul River.—General distribution: Afghanistan endemic.— Habitat: Found in rivers and streams. Freshwater.

Remarks. Questionably a synonym of Schizothorax esocinus . Because this may be an endemic species, the current status needs clarification.
