Restricted synonymy: Oceanapia kirkpatricki Hentschel, 1914, Tedania (Tedaniopsis) actiniiformis Ridley & Dendy, 1886 .
Material examined: 1 specimen collected at station 1 (SOI; 60°28'S, 46°29'W; 139 m; 19/2/2014; MACN-In 44399; IEO-CSIC Col.) .
Description: Massive sponge, soft, beige in colour, cavernous, with abundant mucus. Spicules are large styles of 600–710 µm by 25–30 µm, anisotornotes of 350–430 µm by 10 µm, onychaetes I of 290–730 µm and onychaetes I of ~90 µm (Figure 8 b–e).
Remarks: This species has been previously reported from Antarctic and subantarctic waters by Burton (1932, 1934, 1938), Hentschel (1914), and in Patagonia (Burton 1940; Bertolino et al. 2007). This is the first record for the SOI.
