Javalbia kinabaluensis n. sp.

Type series. Holotype male, Liwagu stream, at crossing with summit trail, Mt Kinabalu, Borneo, Malaysia, 6° 0 1.868 N 116° 32.912 E, alt. 1919 m asl, 11-ix-2012 (RMNH). Paratypes: four females, same data as holotype (RMNH); one female, Kemantis stream, Sayap, Mt Kinabalu, Borneo, Malaysia, 6° 0 9.841 N 116° 33.936 E, alt. 928 m asl, 16-ix-2012 (SP); one female, small stream Waterfall Trail, Inobong, Crocker Range, Borneo, Malaysia, 5° 51.306 N 116° 0 8.292 E, alt. 482 m asl, 19-ix-2012 (RMNH).

Diagnosis. Acetabula elongated, dgl-1 distanced from lateral margin of dorsal shield, glandularia platelets small. Vgl-4 fused with ventral shield in male, but lying free in female.

Description. Colour yellowish. Dorsal shield with four pairs of glandularia and one pair of setae without associated glandularia. P5 slender. Postocularia lying anterior to dgl-1.

Male: Idiosoma 437 long and 316 wide. Dorsal shield 421 long and 275 wide, Dorsal furrow with four pairs of glandularia on small platelets and three pairs of slit organs. Genital field with middle pair of acetabula elongated. Vgl-4 fused with ventral shield. Gonopore 52 long and 44 wide. Length/height of P1–P5: 24/14, 36/24, 30/21, 56/ 18, 28/8; P5 slender. Length of I-leg-4–6: 50, 54, 38. Length of IV-leg-4-6: 74, 78, 56, IV-leg-5 with one rudimentary swimming seta.

Female: Idiosoma 462 (413–445) long and 335 (304–337) wide. Dorsal shield 416 (415–432) long and 292 (259–284) wide. Genital plates longish, posteriorly fused; acetabula elongated, medial acetabula 42–48 long. Vgl–4 separated from ventral shield. Length/height of P1–P5: 23/15, 40/28, 30/22, 60/18, 30/9. Length of I-leg-4–6: 56, 57, 38. Length of IV-leg-4–6: 70, 78, 58.

Etymology. Named after Mt Kinabalu.

Remarks. The very elongated acetabula, especially the medial acetabula, separate the new species from all previously described Javalbia species. In this character state, it agrees with J. magniseta n. sp. (see below), a species differing in the enlarged setae dgl-2.

Distribution. Borneo.
