Ischaemum molle Hooker (1896: 128) . Fig. 1.

Lectotype (designated here):— INDIA, Concan, s.d., N. A. Dalzell, s.n. (K000245684!).

Distribution:—Arabia, Indo-China, Pakistan and India (Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh).

Notes:—While describin g Ischaemum molle, Hooker (1896) cited two gatherings which were made by different collectors. In the search for its type specimens we found three sheets, two of them housed at K and one at CAL. The first sheet (K000245684!) was collected by Dalzell in Concan, India, without a precise locality. This sheet bears a label indicating “ Bombay herbarium” of the late N.A. Dalzell. The second sheet (K000245685!) was collected by Duthie in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra State and the third one (CAL0000002278!) is a duplicate of Duthie’s specimen.

We are convinced that Sir J.D. Hooker had seen the collections made by Dalzell and Duthie, but he did not mention regarding specific herbarium sheet in the protologue. The best specimen having illustration housed at K (K000245684!) is designated here as the lectotype for Ischaemum molle, which agrees well with the protologue. In addition, the other samples (K000245685 and CAL0000002278) constitute its syntypes.
