DISTRIBUTION: South Africa (N Natal, Zululand), N Botswana, NW Zimbabwe, N Namibia, Angola, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Somalia, S Sudan, and S Ethiopia.

SYNONYMS: aquilo, athi, kalaharicus, loveridgei, minutus, swalius, thomasi, tongensis, umbratus.

COMMENTS: The single Ethiopian record was listed as S. pratensis by Yalden et al. (1976).
