TYPE LOCALITY: Gabon, Gaboon River (vicinity of Ogooue, Gabon; see Rautenbach and Schütter, 1978:414) .

DISTRIBUTION: Guinea (Mt Nimba) eastward to S Sudan, Uganda and Rwanda, south to NW Zambia and NE Angola.

SYNONYMS: australis, centralis, giganteus, wilsoni .

COMMENTS: Chromosomal data reported by Viegas-Pequignot et al. (1983).
