DISTRIBUTION: China, Gansu and Ningxia (Qin, 1991).

COMMENTS: Phylogenetically closely allied to M. rothschildi, and in same monophyletic group with M. fontanierii, a cluster defined by a suite of highly derived morphological features (Lawrence, 1991).
