TYPE SPECIES: Tarsomys apoensis Mearns, 1905 .

COMMENTS: Revised by Musser and Heaney (1992) who recorded the history of the incorrect inclusion of Tarsomys in Rattus, and placed the genus in the group of Philippine New Endemics, although its closest relative has yet to be determined.
