DISTRIBUTION: W and C Andes of Colombia.

COMMENTS: Formerly ranked as a subspecies of A. lugens (Cabrera, 1961) . Chromosomal morphology highly divergent among thomasomyines reported by Gardner and Patton (1976), who listed it as a species without explanation.
