DISTRIBUTION: NE Argentina (Misiones) and SE Brazil.

COMMENTS: Formerly included in Microxus or Akodon (e.g., Cabrera, 1961; Ellerman, 1941); reallocated to Oxymycterus by Massoia (1963b) and morphological recognition amplified by Massoia and Fornes (1969).
