TYPE DEPOSITORY: originally in author’s personal collection; according to Gwiazdowicz et al. (2008a: 30), two female type specimens presently deposited at Zoologischen Staatssammlung München, Germany.
TYPE LOCALITY AND HABITAT: near Süddeiches, Wangerooge Island, North Sea, near the coast of the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark, in pasture.
NOTES: (a) Bernhard (1963: 128) and Bregetova (1977a: 208) suspected this species to be a junior synonym of Seiulus minutus Halbert; (b) specimens identified as Leioseius (Arctoseius) minutus by Bernhard (1963: 128) were re-identified as L. insularis by Karg (1973: 337).
