TYPE DEPOSITORY: United States National Museum, Washington DC, USA; accession number 2892. TYPE LOCALITY AND HABITAT: Old Town, Maine, USA, on Monochamus notatus (Animalia: Cerambycidae) infesting Pinus strobus [Plantae: Pinaceae].

NOTES: (a) according to Lindquist & Wu (1991: 887), the following specimens reported as M. monochami were re-identified as Mucroseius algonquian Lindquist & Wu: paratypes from Laniel in Québec, Victoria Beach in Manitoba, both in Canada, and the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee, USA, as well as specimen from North Carolina (McGraw & Farrier, 1969: 64) and specimens from Louisiana (Kinn & Linit, 1989: 3); (b) specimens reported as Melichares n. sp. nr. monochami by Moser & Roton (1971: 1777) were re-identified as M. algonquian by Lindquist & Wu (1991: 887).
