TYPE DEPOSITORY: Zoological Museum, Faculty of Science, South Valley University, Sohag, Egypt. TYPE LOCALITY AND HABITAT: Nile River, Sohag, Egypt, on Eichhornia crassipes [Plantae: Pontederiaceae].

NOTE: this species was described on the basis of an unknown number of syntypes. According to Lindquist (2003), the first specimen referred to this species in the original description, a female, appears to be a species of Phytoseiidae, while the second, also a female (despite being labelled as a male in the description), belongs to a species of Cheiroseius . The placement of the species cannot be decided until one of the specimens is designated as lectotype.
